A TRIBUTE TO PAUL RENNER &
THE FUTURA TYPEFACE

Since the Futura's release in 1929, it has been noted as the typeface of today and tomorrow. It was the first typeface on the moon, and has accompanied and formed much of the 20th and 21st century. Paul Renner wrote count less books on typography in politics and culture, urging designers to assist society with new forms of communication through type and form.

As celebration of Paul Renner's most famous work, the Futura, and of his renown success as a typographer, I wanted to continue the Bauhaus spirt through experimentation with old and new techniques. Scanning and constructing typographic forms through layering, cutting, and folding presented itself as an interesting process with unique results. This book is a collection of the best outcomes from various printing processes, from a simple scan, to large silkscreens and digital prints.
